THE CONCERNED PHOTOGRAPHER

10/11/2009

With our recent look at Taryn Simon’s work here on the blog (thanks Cortlandt) and our discussion last week in class on Ed Burtynsky’s Oil with Paul Roth (click the link to see Paul’s brief intro to the exhibition at the Corcoran), I thought it appropriate to link to yesterday’s New York Times article on Mitch Epstein’s latest project, American Power, here: Capturing a Nation’s Thirst for Energy.

Epstein’s website describes American Power as the examination of “how energy is produced and used in the American landscape. Made on forays to energy production sites and their environs, these pictures question the power of nature, government, corporations, and mass consumption in the United States.”
