I happened to stumble upon the work of Erwin Blumenfeld in my pursuit to learn more about the Dada movement. A multi-talented man, Mr. Blumenfeld was both painter and writer, collager and photographer.Born in Germany of Jewish descent, he escaped to America after being interned at a camp in France. Most well known for his fashion photography, his collages made between 1913-1933 were sent in personal letters and were never meant to be displayed publicly, but thanks to various collectors, we can now enjoy his work. I find his work interesting for its twisted lines and simplicity. Below are a few examples of his work.
